AAFT is being increasingly viewed as one amongst the top of the line research institutes of the country in the domain of media arts with its International Film and Television Research Centre having earned a name for itself across the world. The University has also been associated as a respected member of the association of Indian universities, the prestigious AICTE. Several chambers of commerce , industry, research clubs, and training hubs.

Research is undertaken in all its 7 academic schools  and the vast majority of the University's academic staff are working in areas which are acknowledged by independent assessors as undertaking work of national and international significance. The research also aims to earn grants and investments towards attracting top researchers from around the world to AAFT.

The enhancement that our research strives to make to the quality of life and lifetime prospects of people is our driving force.  Whilst seeking to establish new knowledge and extend the frontiers of human understanding through fundamental research, our research work is directed to provide substantial economic, social and cultural benefits.

Reflecting its importance to society, research is undertaken in every academic School of the University, as well as in an increasing number of its inter-disciplinary and collaborative research centres.  Research is a significant measure by which we judge our progress and overall contribution.
