India's
first film university at AAFT offers plethora
of courses
A degree or diploma in
cinema, mass communication or media studies
from Asian Academy of Film and Television
(AAFT), the first
film university in India, is a natural
evolution in terms of where the world is
going. The courses at our film university
are designed to prepare students for presentation
in television, film and new media productions
as well as serve those in occupations where
extensive knowledge is required of message
design for these media. Our film university
programmes focus on skills required for
careers film directors, directors, editors,
actors, presenters, cameramen, graphic artists
as well as emerging careers in new
media production.
AAFT, a private film university
established by a Chhatisgarh Legislative
Assembly Act, offers short-time
courses in production, direction &
TV journalism, video editing & sound
recording, camera & light techniques,
acting & presentation, TV graphics &
animation and art of still photography as
well as undergraduate and graduate degrees
in cinema, mass communication and media
studies. The film university, set in an
area of over 100 acres at Noida, India,
offers a range of perspectives on media
forms from cinema to broadcast television
to alternative media to emerging technologies.
Our film university is dedicated to integrating
theory and practice, to creating intersections
with other disciplines, and to fostering
cutting-edge media production.
Education and training
for various courses at the film university
are provided by expert
media practitioners supplemented by
visiting guest lecturers who are leading
exponents of their specialised skills in
the practical craft of film and television
production. Working within a full gamut
of styles and genres in a wide
range of media, students at the film
university have produced narrative fiction,
documentaries, computer animation, experimental
work, interactive CD-ROMs and commercials.
The AAFT film university
is internationally
known and attracts students from various
Asian, African and European countries as
well as the USA government departments.
In May 2001, the film university trained
four Government of Bhutan officials and
also had the privilege of training few members
of the staff of Lok
Sabha in the recent past.
