ANOTHER
FEATHER IN THE CAP OF AAFT (INTERNATIONAL
CINEMA)
Prof.
Sandeep Marwah has joined hands with the upcoming
television personality Ruchita Puri to produce
a short film on an unusual subject - the ethos
of an Indian royalty under trying circumstances.
The story of The Widowed Bricks
centres round the living queen of Kuchesar
- a tiny kingdom some 80 km. from the national
capital New Delhi . The lady of the house
of the ruler of Kuchesar is a rare example
of fortitude and a quaint mixture of the tradition
and modernity. Educated at a renowned English
medium girls school, the queen hailing
from another tiny kingdom in Haryana state
married young and lost her husband few years
thereafter. Despite her so called liberal
education, tender age, three children to rear
and problems due to abolition of Zamindari,
the queen has upheld the traditions of thirteen
generations of the royality of Kuchesar in
the best possible manner. The queen has brought
up the two princes so as to carry forward
the age-old family traditions to the next
generation. Ruchita Puri who written the screenplay
after researching the subject matter of the
story for nearly two years, was fascinated
by the grandeur of Mudfort - the palace of
the kings of Kuchesar and the living queen
s dependence on agriculture and horticulture
as the source of revenue. Ruchita Puri was
inspired do this project after watching the
works of Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.
Incidentlally, the entie crew of this film
was constituted by the handpicked Asian Academy
of Film & TV Alumni. The film is almost
ready for the release. |

AAFT
SETS WORLD RECORD IN FILM TRAINING
Film as a form of art or story telling highly
subjective in nature and expensive to make
and so is the training of filmmakers.it is
for this reason the number of good film schools
world-wide could be counted on the fingertips.Asian
Academy of film & television(AAFT)is one
amongst them. The cost effective training offered
by AAFT had been attracting students from
every nook and corner of India as well as
numerous Asian, African,and European countries
including the USA.AAFT alumni are now holding
responsible positions in the production houses
and television stations in Botswana, Mauritius,South
Africa ,Sudan, Togo and the republic of yemen.AAFT
has indeed established few world records in
the field of film training by producing nearly
2000 professionals in a short span of eight
years;providing over 500 hours of solid education
and training and planning and production of
close to 100 training films in each three
month session.Another noteworthy feature of
the programme for training is that beside
the regular and visiting faculty, thirty to
forty noted film and television personalities,
journalists,intellectuals and public figures
are also invited during the training session
to interact with the students with a view
to keeping their training in touch with the
real world time frame of reference. The cost
of training in top class film schools and
comparable to AAFT is quite high. The fees
charged by USAs New York Film Academy
and UKs National Film & Television
Institute is nearly twenty times the course
fee of AAFTs One-year Master Diploma
in Film Making.Beside the course fee, the
cost of living in the developed countries
is also very high.AAFT has by now proved beyond
doubt that Indian film and television
professionals are second to none and in the
unipolar world created by the WTO Regime
they are capable of training even the nationals
of the developed countries,in the art and
craft of film and television production. The
film and television training offered by Asian
Academy of Film & Television is quite
adequate and the Indian nationals need not
look for film schools elsewhere.Asian Academy
of Film & Television is undoubtedly one
of the best academies of its kind in the world.

FILM
WORLD IS CHARMING BUT UNFORGIVING - BHASKAR
GHOSE
Addressing
the students of Asian Academy of Film &
Television, Bhaskar Ghose former, Secretary
of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting
and the Department of Culture said that the
film making and television programming work
are wonderfully exciting and at the same same
time very demanding. The very fact that large
percentage of AAFT alumni are able to find
place and work in the industry speaks volumes
about the effectiveness of the education and
training being imparted by this institution.
He said that he is privileged to be associated
with Asian Academy of Film & Television.
He advised the students to set high standards
of their creative work and remember that the
struggle for existence and survival in this
industry is truly hard. Answering a question
from the students Mr. Ghose explained his
technique of putting the interviewee on
Star Movies Bhaskar Ghose Show
to ease. On the request of the Director of
the academy Prof. Sandeep Marwah, noted singer
Satish Babbar who was present on the occasion
in the auditorium, rendered several Urdu couplets
in his golden voice which drew thunderous
applause from the audience. Answering question
from the students Satish Babbar attributed
lack of training and creativity on the part
of singers coupled with the desire on the
part of film producer in the present day materialistic
to society to make quick money as the causes
of the decline in the quality of film music.
He closed his address by advising the acting
course students to learn to speak Urdu correctly
and fluently for succeeding in their work.
