Having seen him as an actor on stage, TV and films, students from School of Cinema wouldn’t have asked for more when they got an opportunity to attend masterclass with Adil Hussain during his recent visit at Marwah Studios where he talked about acting and its relationship with life.
Hussain; who is known for his critically acclaimed performances in award winning films such as ‘Life of Pi’, ‘Mukti Bhavan’, ‘What Will People Say’, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’, ‘Parched’, ‘Agent Vinod’ and the upcoming ‘2.0’; addressed students about building career in acting, the hardships one has to face and how to overcome them.
On being questioned about how to survive in the film industry while struggling to find roles, Hussain shared his experience of staying at Hampi for three months where he had to pay Rs 440/- for food and had three meals daily. He motivated students to be audacious enough to survive the test of time and to keep their focus intact.
He encouraged students to emphasize on observation skills but simultaneously add their own style to the character rather than just impersonating the person. During the masterclass, he also shared his varied experiences in the industry and camaraderie with different directors.
Overall, it was an informative and remarkable session through which students developed a new zeal and got motivated to maintain their focus on nurturing acting skills.
