One more reason to saunter in New Friends Colony

Winters in Delhi are always delightful. The smell of the new woollens and the old, the revisiting of the ancient tomes that take on a very different hue this time of the year, the Sufi renditions and the rock shows, the new romances that inevitably blossom to keep old hearts warm and the old romances that remind us that some things are for keeps.

And to top it all — the food. Be it food from the old parts of Delhi or the new, eating out in the national capital cannot find a better season than the current one.

Pebble Street is just the watering hole that your city slicker soul requires at an evening like this. An energetic bar where you go for a few rounds of your favourite poison and to shake a leg or two. It’s smoky, it’s hip, and despite there being no dance floor, the resident DJ will keep your toes engaged below the table. Now, now, don’t read too much into that! The menu’s cool too. It’s a multi-cuisine spread, including Tex-Mex, Italian, European and Indian. The food’s good, but here’s what got our nod.

A particular track that the friendly DJ was playing reminded us of our time in a Bangkok bar. And the wonderful company that we had. Nostalgic, we ordered for the White Russian, half knowing that we won’t get the good potion there. Not only did we get it soon enough, the cocktail tasted as good as the one back in Bangkok. If only we had the same company!
