How do Indie-filmmakers get the money?

There are other options to generate money for an independent film; one is that the director should have a pocket full of beans, or the other that most filmmakers do is that they crowdfund and collect the money from the crowd by showing their concept and how it is going to help society. What do Mainstream films create?

The bigger the promotion, the bigger the box office hit for mainstream films. Indie films have only one option to get revenue and recognition: film festivals.
