Anoop Ray is a photographer, visual journalist, and educator based in New Delhi. He holds a Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Diploma in Photography. His work is grounded in documentary photography and photojournalism, focusing on everyday lives, long-term observation, and social realities shaped by time, memory, and place. His photographic projects are developed through sustained engagement with people and communities. His work has been exhibited widely in India and internationally, including the FotoFest Biennial, Houston; Landskrona Foto Festival, Sweden; Kolga Tbilisi Photo, Georgia; and Galerie Lichtblick, Germany. His photographs have been published in The New York Times, Aperture, Houston Chronicle, and e-flux. In 2018, he received the Career-changing Award (USD 20,000) from the Charles Jing Fellowships at FotoFest, USA. With over a decade of teaching experience, Anoop has taught photography, photojournalism, and visual storytelling at leading art, design, and journalism institutions. At the AAFT School of Journalism & Mass Communication, he emphasizes ethical photojournalism, rigorous visual research, and narrative clarity, preparing students to critically observe and report the world through images.
